Royally Screwed

Royally Screwed was packed with deception, deceit, suspense, thrills and loads of karma that will reel you in from the 1st page until the very last. The storyline is well written and you will be held hostage while reading and trying to find out how it all plays out for each character.

You will feel as if you personally know each character or at least someone like them. Kennedy's character could easily be any woman that has given her all in a relationship but doesn't feel as if she gets it back in return. And Deo is every man that has neglected his relationship for to long..and has to do everything in his power to save it once he realizes what he stands to lose. Now Daddy a/k/a AJ was a chcharacter that I did not see coming but definitely added shock value to the story.

All in all this was a great read for a rookie author. I would definitely recommend R.S. and say that you will NOT be disappointed. Great job!!

That ending had me like whoa and crying laughing! I definitely wasn't expecting that! Kennedy made the decision to seek attention elsewhere once Deo started neglecting her. She had no trust in him whatsoever. Deo, even though he was a good dude, looked out for Tamera and that only caused more problems in his relationship. I didn't like Tamera because she was being selfish and because she messed up, she felt Deo should've accepted her back like it was nothing. Now AJ took me by surprise. And just for being hardheaded Kennedy got herself caught up. I never would've thought Daddy would turn out to be who he was! Like damn Kennedy! I see why she stayed flirting with Jojo now. I was questioning the pregnancy at first but that got answered quickly. I feel bad for Deo though because no matter who Kennedy was doing what with, she was still wrong. Great job Nicki! Can't wait to start part 2.

I enjoyed this book and its nice little twist. I don't want to write too much for fear of giving the story away but all I can do is smh at Kennedy, she was just too darn selfish. I understand women being emotional cheaters ( Kennedy being a cheater is in the description so that's not a spoiler) but goodness. Deo neglected her but wasn't a cheater, I almost want him to have better than Kennedy. I'm hoping part two doesn't take forever to come out because I need answers. Kudos to the author, I'll be reading more of your work as it becomes available.

Best resource out there!

This is an outstanding test prep book for the 3rd grade PARCC. We used it primarily as a method to introduce our child to the way this test will ask her questions, and help her learn strategies on how to answer those questions. Our child tends to speed read through the questions and then answers the question wrong as a result. Taking the practice tests helped her learn she needed to slow down.

Also, in our state the PARCC results won't come out until November, so this also helped us zero in on her math weaknesses which we can address during the summer to help her transition easier into 4th grade math in September.

The first 2 tests are 10 question review tests. The next 8 are 20 question practice tests that will be more like the PARCC. Answers and scoring are in the back.

President Barack Obama’s mother, S. Ann Dunham, was an economic anthropologist and rural development consultant who worked in several countries including Indonesia. Dunham received her doctorate in 1992. She died in 1995, at the age of 52, before having the opportunity to revise her dissertation for publication, as she had planned. Dunham’s dissertation adviser Alice G. Dewey and her fellow graduate student Nancy I. Cooper undertook the revisions at the request of Dunham’s daughter, Maya Soetoro-Ng. The result is Surviving against the Odds, a book based on Dunham’s research over a period of fourteen years among the rural metalworkers of Java, the island home to nearly half Indonesia’s population. Surviving against the Odds reflects Dunham’s commitment to helping small-scale village industries survive; her pragmatic, non-ideological approach to research and problem solving; and her impressive command of history, economic data, and development policy. Along with photographs of Dunham, the book includes many pictures taken by her in Indonesia.

After Dunham married Lolo Soetoro in 1967, she and her six-year-old son, Barack Obama, moved from Hawai‘i to Soetoro’s home in Jakarta, where Maya Soetoro was born three years later. Barack returned to Hawai‘i to attend school in 1971. Dedicated to Dunham’s mother Madelyn, her adviser Alice, and “Barack and Maya, who seldom complained when their mother was in the field,” Surviving against the Odds centers on the metalworking industries in the Javanese village of Kajar. Focusing attention on the small rural industries overlooked by many scholars, Dunham argued that wet-rice cultivation was not the only viable economic activity in rural Southeast Asia.

Surviving against the Odds includes a preface by the editors, Alice G. Dewey and Nancy I. Cooper, and a foreword by her daughter Maya Soetoro-Ng, each of which discusses Dunham and her career. In his afterword, the anthropologist and Indonesianist Robert W. Hefner explores the content of Surviving against the Odds, its relation to anthropology when it was researched and written, and its continuing relevance today.

Do not start a cleaning business

This person sold me her cleaning business; what I am sure she did not write in her book is a chapter on ethics; because she doesn't have any. She told me her financials were not ready and showed me the previous year financials, the business was not making as much as she stated. Forgot to mention that her sister worked the "field" part of the business ( I had a non compete from her the owner). Since she did not tell me about her sister running the field,the sister proceed to steal all my houses and bad mouth a most important commercial account. Two broken down vacuum cleaners later, yes she went through her equipment and gave me the junkiest, and a broken down truck that started over heating right away with pealing paint I had my cleaning business. Is hard work, you will not find employees only drug addicts or alcoholics, most people do not want to clean, or workers with no work ethics, work for you two days and then disappear, and the rich people in Naples, Florida where I have my business do not want to pay a fair price for your services. Do not start a cleaning business. Do not buy a cleaning business. Not worth it.

Excellent information

This book has for anyone that questions why they can't remember something. That is probably most of the adult population.

I found the “Four Keys to Growth” very interesting and helpful. Actually I found the entire book helpful and will be re-reading it. Will read several times because of course I have already forgotten quite a bit that I read the first time.

After reading this I may need to back off on the caffeine and get more sleep.

This is a well written book with a lot to take in and benefit from.

I did NOT order nor did I receive this book

I did not order nor did I download or receive this book. I think it is shameful that a company as large as Amazon does not have procedures online that customers can use to remedy situations like this. I have been a loyal and long time customer, but now I am considering doing all my online shopping elsewhere.

Although I was skeptical about self-help books in general, yet I decided to go with this one and its pretty great. I keep going back to the chapter about gambling and magicians because there is so much amazing stuff in there. This is soo good.

Disappointing

This ambitious volume aims to update Constance Green's extraordinary 1963 history of Washington. Lewis is a great storyteller, but he comes up far short -- this book is no match for Green. Lewis tells little that is new to students of Washington history. He retells familiar stories and spends an inordinate amount of time on the 18th and 19th centuries. The post-World War II city gets all of two chapters, a stunning oversight given how much has happened in D.C. in the past half century. If you don't know anything about D.C., this might be a nice introduction to the origins of the city, but if you know something about the city or you want to learn about the city since World War II your time would be better spent reading something else.

A Good and Complete History of D.C.

As a native Washingtonian, I thoroughly enjoyed this history. It begins with the initial planning in the 18th century to the opening of Metro in 1976.
My only caveat is that Professor Lewis is not a Washingtonian, so when I got to the last chapter I was familiar enough with the subject beginning with the riots of 1968 to the above mentioned Metro, to spot some errors and matters that could be argued against. Specifically:

He misspells the name of a Md. congressman Gilbert Gude
He calls Columbia Heights, Cleveland Heights, though the area he is talking about is most likely in neither, but in the Adams-Morgan neighborhood.
He speaks of Tacoma Park (the wrong Washington) when he means either the town of Takoma Park, Md. or the Takoma neighborhood of NW DC,
Whichever he means, its misspelled.
.He refer to the hotel in which Marion Barry was arrested as "seedy." I don't think that's a fair representation of this downtown hotel which is now a Weston.
Metro is referred to as "the first significant subway built anywhere in the [U.S.] after World War II. BART beat it by a couple of years.

None of this will matter to most readers. Overall this is a complete history well worth reading. Its surprising how few people really know much about Washington, D.C. once they leave the mall and the museums..

Overview of Washington DC

This is an enjoyable general history of the nation's capital for the lay reader. The author Tom Lewis (as far as i know we are not related) covers everything from George Washington's vision for the city up to contemporary times.

I think he does a particularly good job of giving one a feeling for how it was to be in the city at various times in its history. And Lewis deserves credit for going a good job addressing race issues as experienced by the predominantly black population of Washington DC. I think this is the book's greatest strength, as it is in this area that the book best shows how the city mirrored the nation.

On the downside, the book does not have a compelling character, except perhaps George Washington in the beginning, but even he does not come alive in the book the way he did in Ron Chernow's biography
