About the Author
Prior to founding mbaMission, Jeremy was the sole speechwriter for the Ambassador of Israel to the United States, for whom he wrote more than 70 policy addresses. As his speeches were being published in the Washington Post, Washington Times and other major international media outlets, Jeremy was also laying the foundation for mbaMission, helping a small number of applicants gain acceptance to top-tier MBA programs each year. Jeremy was admitted to several top domestic and international MBA programs himself and ultimately became one of the youngest members of his class at the University of Virginia's Darden School of Business, where he was an admissions interviewer, wrote a Business Ethics case and was chosen by his peers to be Class Graduation Speaker. Phenomenal guide to a very confusing process

This book is undoubtedly the most useful resource I found while applying to business school. It is written extremely concisely and it is laid out very logically. The book is broken out into various components of the application process and timeline, which makes it helpful to use as you navigate through the process. The writer debunks a lot of myths about the application process and really helped me tailor my applications to the various schools to which I applied. I strongly recommend this for anyone who is applying to business school.

Someone else must have thought it was great too and so they stole it

Simply incredible. I came accross this text some two years ago and had the hard copy shipped to Jamaica. Someone else must have thought it was great too and so they stole it. I was preparing for a new sales managemet role and needed some insight. I bought tge book for the second time but this time the Kindle version. I find to text to be extremely thorough yet practical. The principles can be applied to every possible salesforce regardless of product offerings. One of the best investments I have ever made.

It is a pretty good book

It is a pretty good book, but KINDLE (or whoever is in charge of this) PLEASE PUT ACTUALLY PAGE NUMBERS. I seriously had assignments that were a lot harder just because the teacher listed page numbers. What do I see instead of page numbers? 1243325423 of 12342343245646 (WTF).

Now for the positive, it was cheap for the amount of time that I used it, and I did recommend to my friends who also saved money because of this.

Great product, thanks for uploading it to Kindle.

Either a fake or very poorly printed

This is an excellent story with gorgeous pictures, however, the board book version Amazon is offering is incredibly off. The text is slanted.. the colors are completely wrong (orange instead of bright red, hot pink all over the book including the light pink bathtub, hot pink in the snow). Our copy came bent and I immediately knew something was off. I had ordered another copy of this book where the colors were not off so I'm not sure what happened. Either it's a fake or they did a horrible job of printing it but sold it anyway. It seemed Amazon was aware that this book has serious issues because when I requested a refund they did not even want their copy back..

A Must have for "snowless" kids in the South

A classic book that still holds up; this has quickly become my 3 year old's favorite this year. While the protagonist of the story is named Peter, it really is a bit ambiguous as to who the child could be when all bundled up in that iconic snow suit. So my daughter has me read the story as if she is the one adventuring through the city, leaving footprints and poking snow off trees. Whenever we read The Snowy Day, my daughter always asks me when it will snow. I can tell she views this book as a "how to" guide for all the fun to be had in the winter weather.

Alas we live in a warm climate. But while my daughter waits for global warming to bring us an uncharacteristically frozen day, we'll have this book with all "her" adventures in the snow.

A beautiful classic

As a child growing up in the 60's, this was my favorite children's book. Having it read to me at a young age is one of my earliest vivid memories. I imagined myself as part of Peter's world and as his special friend. The use of patterns inspired me to cut up scraps of fabric, wallpaper or whatever else I could find to make my own artwork. Of the many young children's books in our home, this is the only one I recall that featured a child of color. It didn't mean much to me at first, despite the fact that I knew only white people. As I grew and began to hear subtle and overt racist language and remarks, I had a sense that something was wrong because I knew Peter was just like me. I am grateful to whomever gave my family this book for I believe I would have processed those ugly remarks much differently if not for The Snowy Day. The delight I had in reading this book to my own children is immeasurable. I just purchased two copies of the 50th Anniversary Edition for baby shower gifts.

Stunningly Different Fantasy

I picked up this book and one other ("Painted Devils")at a garage sale, having heard good things about the author. I had thought they were more on the order of ghost or horror stories. Instead, this book is a cross-genre jewel that really can't be pushed into any easily recognized template. Each story involves somebody getting into a situation where something strange is happening, but can't seem to realize the danger until they are fully involved. Each story is so radically different that in some cases, it's like they were written by a different person. Out of the ten or so stories, there are one or two that don't fully work, but those that do are as original and wonderful as anything I've read in the field. Aickman shouldn't be considered anything less than a master, in spite of the fact that he's not as well known as some of his contemporaries of lesser talent.

Stunning collection of supernatural fiction

I'm currently trying to read my way through the complete Aickman canon. I'm attacking this project with relish. There is no finer writer of a supernatural story than Robert Aickman. He had the literary skills of one of the world's finest writers, and his ability to create spooky and bizarre stories was unparalleled. He is a great author, and it's a shame that his books are not readily available.
This collection is perhaps Aickman's finest. The stories in here are of a consistently brilliant quality. The highlight is the World Fantasy Award-winning novella 'Pages from a Young Girl's Diary'. This story recounts the tale of a repressed young girl who falls in with a vampire. This is Aickman's only vampire tale. He tended toward more intellectual bogeyman, but in this story he shows the world how a vampire story should be written. It is, without question, the finest vampire tale I've ever read. Yes, better than Anne Rice, better than Lumley, better than Stoker, Simon Clark, and on and on. Aickman's literary abilities shine in this story.
Other excellent pieces include 'The Swords' and 'The Clock Watcher'. 'The Clock Watcher' is a creepy tale of a woman with an affinity for clocks. Her husband isn't sure what to make of her obsession and her strange link to clocks of any kind. This story kept me entranced and bedazzled until the end. 'The Swords' is a marvelous novella. It says something about a collection if there's a story of this caliber that ISN'T the best story in the book. 'The Swords' tells the story of a bizarre carnival sideshow with a girl and a pile of swords. I won't tell any more for fear of giving too much away. 'The Swords' is the lead-off story in the collection and it sets the tone. Fabulous.
I can't recommend Robert Aickman highly enough. I'm taking it upon myself as a one-man crusade to spread his name widely. I've only recently discovered the man and I've been ensorceled by his amazing talent. He writes with the ease and flair that's normally found in writers from the 19th century. It's often jarring to find Aickman characters in automobiles or airplanes. His stories, for the most part, could just as easily be set in the 1870s as the 1970s. Aickman is my literary find of the year. Let him be yours.

Take Aickman's cold hand into a strange literary world

Robert Aickman (1914-1981), though he wrote plays and was active in the preservation of England's waterways, is best know for what he referred to as his "strange stories". Those seeking easy genre labels will, no doubt, insist on filing these stories away in the horror section. While this is not a completely inappropriate classification, it is more often than not misleading. At their best, Aickman's "strange stories" often possess many of the qualities of the horror genre (being weird, eerie, grotesque, etc.) while also sidestepping the conventional trappings of the field. My favorite Aickman stories leave me with a sense of unease and grim wonder beyond the ability of any other author I have ever read, the "horror" springing from subconscious realms and working upon those same areas in the psyche of the reader. Themes of alienation, squandered time, and sexual tension seem to be common in Aickman's work and "Cold Hand in Mine" contains elements of all three.
The book contains eight pieces:
"The Swords", "The Real Road to the Church", Niemandswasser", "Pages from a Young Girl's Journal", "The Hospice", "The Same Dog", "Meeting Mr. Millar" and "The Clock Watcher".
The most conventional piece in this collection, and thereby the most atypical for Aickman, is the award winning "Pages from a Young Girl's Journal". This is a fairly straightforward vampire narrative and, while certainly worth reading, not my favorite Aickman story.
All of the pieces in this book, in fact, are worth reading if you are interested in uncommon and literate fiction. There are, however, standout stories. For me these are (in order of appearance):
"The Swords" - An uneasy tale of sexual awakening, exploitation, and high sideshow weirdness with a strange young lady named Madonna (long before and definitely not the pop star).
"The Real Road to the Church" - A quite unconventional "ghost" story in which an unfulfilled woman comes face to face with. . .herself?
"The Hospice" - A motorist lost and low on gas spends a night in the title establishment. A tense and claustrophobic story that impresses itself upon one's mind like a bad dream.
"The Same Dog" - Love lost and cycles beyond human perception.
These four are Aickman at his unsettling and ambiguous best. You will find yourself captivated, moved and shaken by these stories and, if you are at all like me, you will not be sure what has actually happened in the narrative or why it has effected you. Rereading is almost imperative with Aickman's work if you seek to understand it.

Great book, give the book a shot

When I decided to read this book I was skeptical, I am a female and have been married for a long time. We have a very successful marriage and I wanted to know if the book had different ideas. But to be honest he was spot on. I do think he could improve the book with a chapter about communication in the bedroom, I believe this is key to a great relationship, and great sex, telling one another exactly what each other likes and dislikes.
But the chapter about trust and how women think they can check out other men and its OK because they are "trustworthy" , and men can not even glance at a other woman or be smacked because he is aa disloyal DOG. Best book for trial lawyers ever

This book will get you excited about trial practice and should be read by anyone who tries cases or is thinking about becoming a trial attorney. It will not teach you the criminal law, procedures or anything else that is taught at law school (in a deadly dull fashion, I might add). What it will teach you is attitude and show you the skill set you need to be a successful trial attorney.

I just sent a young lawyer off to a hearing about which she was nervous. I told her about this book and the message that the #1 attribute a good trial lawyer has is that he/she is quick on their feet. I wish I could give her this book but I cannot because it is out of print. PLEASE make it available on the Kindle.

Thank you, Mr. Bailey--this book inspired me when it came out and I am a better lawyer for having read it.

Very helpful

Very helpful, not just for my daughter in college but for me too. As a professional I picked up some financial knowledge here and there but really don't have a solid understanding of financial fundamentals, especially in tax area. I can really appreciate this book which provides an easy way for me to educate myself. I will definitely recommend this book to my friends.

It's Never Too Early to Start Financial Education

Why do we need the book? Are adults and teenagers aware of where they are when it comes to being financially literate? If you ask parents anecdotally, they would think their awareness of their own and their children’s financial literacy would be very high. However, after reading this book, you will find that many people, myself included, have a lot to learn before we even begin to educated our children on this very important topic.

The statistics are staggering. I was taken by the average debt that students have when they graduate, the average cost of public and private college tuition, and I know of so many people my age whose college educated children end up living at home for too many years because of debt and poor money management skills. These are very scary and realistic things a parent needs to have in the forefront of his/her mind, regardless of how young the children are presently.

In this book, the authors emphasize that all discussions and activities need to be relevant to children, and they include multiple ways to explore financial topics that are age appropriate, starting with preschool and up until college entry. The exercises are authentic, real-world and fun! Practical applications are mixed with the appropriate amount of theory to make learning meaningful and lasting. The book included a lot of concrete exercises. For example, something as simple as having elementary age children set up a bakery store or simulate a school book fair to discuss budgeting for items or learning to separate wants from needs creates a realistic and interactive experience from which discussion can emerge. Additionally, the book is organized with specific skill sets and activities for upper elementary, middle school, and high school. So if you feel you are late in starting these conversations with older children, you can easily adapt exercises from an earlier chapter to build a strong financial literacy skills foundation.

As I mentioned in the beginning, if you ask parents what their FIQ (financial intelligence quotient) is, they're going to tell you, it is very high. This comes as no surprise because they're functioning well, successful in life and planning for retirement. However, when you actually sit down, reflect, and look at all of the components that contribute to one’s financial intelligence, it’s complex. And since parents are a child’s first and most trusted teacher, lessons in financial literacy start with you. They will serve your children for life and are in many ways, more important to their future and well-being than lessons in math or language arts.

This book blew me away! So comprehensive and well researched, the authors clearly carried out their mission to educate with joy and enthusiasm. It is a thorough book, and it covered all aspects of Financial Intelligence for Parents and Children. It's exciting to see an often neglected topic covered with such passion and conviction. I highly recommend this book to any parent or relative who wants to raise a financially healthy child. It’s never too late or too early to start the process, and this book will give you the guidance and support to do this now and to do it extremely well.

DON'T.....look at pg 116 first and ask yourself should you trust anything in it.

Not what was expected especially due to VERY high price(over $15.00). Could have been written a WHOLE lot better. Found MANY errors and misinformation like the 2014 tax table on pg 116 which is totally incorrect. I purchased the book because majored in accounting and the author is a CPA. Bad decision! There has to be other books out there that are BETTER. Some things are common sense and expected from good parents like teaching children financial literacy, starting with simply not spoiling them and teaching them the value of money. Disappointed that a CPA printed incorrect tax table which is noticeably wrong at FIRST glance for even the least informed. More like a boring history book and parenting guide.

I made it to 25 % and stopped. I truly hated the way the Max and Gillian characters interacted.
I never even realized this was part of a series, but I'm so not interested.

Another great entry in the Pop Classics series. This time about a strange town with damn good coffee.

'Wrapped in Plastic: Twin Peaks' by Andy Burns just continues my love of the Pop Classics series. So far I've read books on the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, Elvis Costello, and now Twin Peaks. In all cases the subjects have been enthusiastically and well written about.

This time around, it's quirky Twin Peaks. The show that lasted only two seasons, but managed to change so much. Modern shows like True Detective, The Following, and Hannibal owe quite a bit to this landmark, even if they don't overtly acknowledge it. The television landscape before and after are discussed as is the fact that the shows creator came from Hollywood in a time when that didn't really happen. We read about the episodes that worked, and the ones that didn't. The movie is discussed as well as the way the characters changed as they encountered the Red Lodge. The influence of the show and the many homages are talked about, some funny, some strange. The show was ahead of it's time, and, for a show that got cancelled, it's found a loyal fan base.

Andy Burns points out the offbeat humor that a lot of people didn't get. His fandom is very infectious, and the writing is very well done. I was a fan of the show the first season, and it kind of lost me during the second, but after reading this, I might have to go back and revisit this strange, dark town with it's delicious pie and coffee. Thank you Andy Burns for reintroducing me to this series, and thank you Pop Classics for another fun entry.

No real revelations, but an interesting read for TP fans

Despite its shortness I enjoyed the book for what it was worth. However, I found a couple of Burns' theories to be incorrect according to the series. For instance, he says he believes that Bob is the "Dweller on the threshold" when in the series, as Hawk explains the legend of the Black Lodge to Coop, he clearly states that the "Dweller on the threshold" is the Shadow Person of the person inside the Black Lodge who is either trying to pass through to the White Lodge or trying to get back to our world.
There was another inconsistency in one of his theories which I can't recall at the moment, but other than this it was an interesting, short (although I must confess I craved a bit more), concise read.

That Show You Like Will Be Coming Back Into Style Soon...

This book is a very good, extended essay length overview of the Twin Peaks phenomenon. It is very well researched. The author has a lot of insight into the creation of the show and the themes it explores. I enjoy the fact that this volume was written recently, so it takes into account all the newer information about Twin Peaks, including homages and news of the new Showtime series that is being produced. For my money, this book is perfect for either the seasoned viewer who is looking for a refresher, or for the new fan who wants to delve into the mysteries of the seres, where the owls are not what they seem.
